Routine numbs the mind. Sometimes you just need to escape. Find out what’s going on in far off places. Change the scenery. Discover a different perspective. We take off in our Ford truck, for a week or a month or more, living off-grid, sleeping in a tent. There’s a theme to explore, like a Superbloom in the California desert, a severe drought in Glen Canyon, or border wars in west Texas. It could be human interest, like living on America’s highest highway or isolated on an island in the Atlantic. We research where we’re going and write about it along the way, posting in America’s greatest resource, the public library. We camp on public lands when we can, or in state and local parks or on military bases if we can’t. We make just-fine art along the way.
